Bonn, Nov 15 – Today, at COP23 a high-level closing ceremony will highlight the most relevant outcomes of the five days of activities at the Global Climate Action (GCA) events during the annual UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn. Starting at 1800 CET, the programme will be held at plenary room ‘New York’ in the Bula Zone of the conference and will be available live via webcast.
The Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2017 by the Climate Champions will be presented to the Parties, providing an annual overview of action in key GCA thematic areas, highlighting the achievements made under the Marrakech Partnership, and showcasing progress in the run-up to the Talanoa Dialogue. The Yearbook will be made available online after the launch.
António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, Patricia Espinosa, UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Frank Bainimarama, COP President and Prime Minister of Fiji, Inia Seruiratu, Climate Champion and Fijian Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, and Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco and President of COP22, will be present at the event.
The programme will also feature a panel discussion which will feature the following guests: Ashok-Alexander Sridharan, Mayor of Bonn, Fiza Farhan, Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE), Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s First Minister, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Head of Climate Change at WWF, Frank Appel, CEO, DPDH, and Jill Peeters, Weather Forecaster and moderator.
